Ben-Har 1258-2 is a tough, extremely flexible, unsupported silicone rubber tubing with outstanding electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. Its outstanding flexibility comes from our proprietary silicone rubber compound combined with a special extrusion technique. Ben-Har 1258-2 does not become stiff or brittle over time; it tolerates moisture, sunlight, immersion in fluids, and other hazards that normally deteriorate most natural or synthetic elastomers. Ben-Har 1258-2 exhibits outstanding dielectric properties as well as good corona resistance, allowing relatively high dielectric stresses to be tolerated. It also withstands high and low temperature extremes with minimal loss of properties. Ben-Har 1258-2 fits snugly over irregular contours (splices, components, fittings), protecting them against vibration damage and insuring permanent positioning. Ben-Har 1258-2 is resistant to organic acids, alkalies, and aliphatic hydrocarbons and is compatible with Class H insulating varnishes. Slight swelling is caused by aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated organic solvents. Oil immersion causes swelling from negligible to 1½ times its original volume, but is not indicative of deterioration. Oils of extremely high aromatic content have a more serious effect. Ben-Har 1258-2 ™s combination of properties makes it ideally suited for a variety of applications, including hot fluid conveying, acoustical tubing, high-temperature cushioning, high-voltage or high-temperature flexible covering, modest pressure hydraulic or pneumatic lines, and thermal covering and protection.
